Planned Maintenance PPM

Planned preventative maintenance ensures both the operational performance and safety of your automatic and manual doors. In addition servicing will maintain accessibility ensuring visitors, customers and staff can always access the building and that the elderly, disabled or young are not prevented from using the facilities.

An automatic door is a piece of machinery and just like any other machinery it needs to be checked and maintained. Ensuring that manual and automatic doors are safe in operation helps prevent potential injury to users and so reduce the possibility of litigation for negligence.

Over its lifetime a regularly serviced automatic door costs less to maintain than using urgent reactive call outs and ensures reliability, optimum performance and can extend its life expectancy.

We work closely with our clients to offer a competitive, tailor-made maintenance package and in accordance with BS 7036 we recommend at least two service visits each year.

GEZE have introduced iContact™ a wireless telemetry device that uses GSM and GPRS technology to enable remote monitoring and control of a door system. This enables us to provide an immediate response should operational issues occur.

GEZE’s Planned Preventative Maintenance, PPM, is an individually tailored plan to ensure the highest possible standards of operational performance and safety of all doors whether automatic, manual or industrial. In addition we can provide PPM for access control systems and window winding gear.

Each automatic door has different requirements depending on the type of door it is, where it is sited, the volume of traffic and whether that traffic is trained or untrained.

We recommend two PPM visits per year and offer several levels of service*:

1 Star 2 service visits per annum. Additional re-active calls on request.
2 Star 2 service visits per annum plus a maximum of 8 re-active call outs within one continuous year.
3 Star 2 service visits per annum plus any replacement parts. Re-active calls would be chargeable.
4 Star fully comprehensive cover - 2 service visits, replacement parts & all re-active call outs within one continuous year.

*With each level a thorough service is completed, not just a ‘walk through’ and a full report supplied. When GEZE engineers complete a service they check them to ensure they conform to BS7036. With each service taking an hour you can be sure that a full inspection has taken place.

If the door operator doesn’t meet the BS 7036 standard we have a duty of care to tell you.

Whether you choose a one, two, three or four star level, a PPM contract can offer peace of mind and would cost far less than any claim for compensation, and could certainly help avoid any negative publicity.
