Getting to Know...the Contracts team
The challenge faced by GEZE UK’s contracts team every day is to make sure each and every installation runs smoothly.
Meeting that expectation are six experienced and multi-talented project managers who cover the UK and are the main point of contact for clients while liaising with planners, engineers and manufacturers on-site. Led by contracts manager Gary Marshall, who oversees every customer order, the project managers visit sites to perform risk assessments, provide method statements and confirm the suitability of the product ordered. This unique GEZE service ensures that the customer has one point of contact, for the entire installation, helping overcome potential problems and speed up the process. The project managers are supported at Head Office by a planning support team, who administrate the important planning data sheet, which speeds up order times and allows flexibility that can save time and money later in the project.
Gary Marshall commented: “This is a unique service from GEZE that provides clients with peace of mind throughout the duration of an installation. Not only do our project managers have more than 100 years of combined experience, but also they all carry Construction Skills Certification Scheme cards and are qualified to the BS 7036 Safety at Powered Doors standard.”
Gary Bartlett
Covering London and the Home Counties, Gary has 5 years industry experience, 4 of them at GEZE UK. Gary says his biggest project so far is managing the installation of automatic doors at the O2 Dome and his favourite operator is the TSA 160 UFO as it is fully concealed in the floor, perfect for listed buildings. Gary believes that ensuring that everyone has the correct information is one of the most important skills he needs to do his job well.
Eric Bond
Eric covers the South West and Midlands and with 22 years industry experience, 9 of them at GEZE UK, there’s not a lot about automatic doors he doesn’t know! Eric’s favourite operator is the Slimdrive SCR as it is a ‘pure auto and stands alone all the time and not a retro fit to an inappropriate door’. He says that time management, self motivation and being an auto door ‘anorak’ are key skills to being a project manager. His biggest project was at Broadcasting House for the BBC in London.
Graham Jewers
Graham is another very experienced project manager with 20 years in the industry, 7 of them at GEZE UK. He covers the East of England and his biggest project was the Great North Museum in Newcastle as it had over thirty operators – TSA 160 UFO’s, EMD-F, and TSA 150’s. Graham’s favourite operator is the Slimdrive SL as we can install it where no-one else can (due to its 70mm profile). The ability to identify problems in automating an entrance and having the knowledge to overcome them are the most important skills of a project manager he says.
Roy Parker
Although Roy has only been with GEZE UK less than a year he brings with him over 20 years experience in automatic doors, installing, production & management. Covering the South East and South Coast Roy’s biggest project to date was Wykeham House in Tooting, he says self motivation is the most important skill a project manager needs and the Slimdrive SL is his favourite operator.
John Peyton
Covering the North West and Scotland John has 19 years industry experience with 6 of them at GEZE UK. The Liverpool One project, part of the city’s redevelopment was one of the biggest projects he has worked on and he is another one who says his favourite operator is the SL as it is very sleek and probably the best on the market. Flexibilty, attention to detail and being able to speak the client’s language are key skills to the job.
Pete Wilding
Pete has over 8 years experience of the automatic door industry and manages all the projects for large national companies across the UK. His biggest project to date is the Paradise Street redevelopment in Liverpool. Pete’s favourite operator is the SCR and he says that he considers unshakable tenacity to be the one of the most important skills a project manager can have.
