Slim Fittings
A brand new slim cam closer launches this month, combining aesthetics and functionality as well as assisting with the ramifications of the DDA.
The elegant TS 3000 B from GEZE UK perfectly complements the existing family of closers and its shape and size make it the slimmest surface mounted guide rail closer on the market.
The demand by architects, specifiers and architectural ironmongers for a door closer that can bridge the gap between the stringent fire door regulations and Approved Document M of the Building Regulations inspired GEZE experts to develop a product that provides sufficient closing force to comply with the 18N requirement of Approved Document B and BS 8300, yet still be suitable for access points that require ease of opening.
With its high specification, the TS 3000 B is extremely functional, with adjustable closing force, adjustable closing speed, adjustable hydraulic latching action and adjustable hydraulic back check. Suitable for both left and right hand single action doors with a leaf weight of up to 130 kg and a leaf width of up to 1100 mm, the new TS 3000 B can assist with the rigorous demands of the DDA and is fully fire tested to EN1634-1 (CF 145).
Based on the existing integrated Boxer, the TS 3000 B slim cam closer is complete with a hold-open angle that is infinitely variable from 80° to 130° and has also been independently tested by Bodycote Warrington APT Laboratories Ltd.
GEZE's technical director, Simon Bowden, said: "Developing a product that could bridge the gap between the conflicting legislation that has been introduced was a high priority for GEZE and we anticipate strong demand for this flexible and independently tested closer.
"Any manufacturer making a claim that their individual product complies to DDA is misleading both the specifier and the end user as it isn't possible for any manufacturer to guarantee compliance with the regulations, given that the entire doorset has to be compliant and that the doorset can be influenced by so many elements including the environment in which it's placed. That's why the new TS 3000 B has been developed and independently tested under laboratory conditions, to ensure that it can assist with the rigorous demands of the DDA."
